The story of Season 8 will take place in New York. (The series is still mainly filmed in Los Angeles, with some scenes shot in New York.) Meanwhile, the long-missed CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) will make a powerful comeback.
Since the main battlefield has shifted to New York, this will be an entirely new anti-terrorism team - likely the reformed New York branch after CTU's dissolution. The new director is a sharp-minded MBA-type talent named Brian Hastings. Two agents in their 20s (one male, one female) will also appear under his leadership. Among returning characters, computer genius Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), FBI agent Renee (Annie Wersching), and President Taylor (Cherry Jones) will all return. The new round of crises will even be related to Renee's past.
Additionally, as previously reported, Indian actor Anil Kapoor, who played the host in the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire,' officially joins Season 8 to play Arman Hashemi, a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the U.S. to accomplish a mission for peace.
