Plot Summary:

The story is set in the Warring States Period. The main camp of the Wei Kingdom was ambushed by the army of the Liang Kingdom. After a fierce battle that left both sides heavily damaged, only one soldier from the Liang Kingdom (played by Jackie Chan) and one general from the Wei Kingdom (played by Lee Hom) remained. The soldier survived by pretending to be dead, while the general was left alive but as good as dead.

The soldier believes that capturing the general will earn him a reward, allowing him to leave the war behind. Without much effort, he captures the injured general, and they begin their long journey back to the Liang Kingdom.

During the journey, the general attempts suicide multiple times, and the soldier, trying to save him, nearly loses his own life on several occasions. Their return trip becomes unbearable for both of them. The soldier hates the general with all his heart, believing that the general pursued war at all costs and was the root cause of the destruction of the soldier's peaceful life in the countryside. On the other hand, the general also despises the soldier, seeing him as a coward who feared death and believed it was people like him that caused him to lose the war and prevented him from achieving his lofty ideals.

On the road, they encounter a group of refugees fleeing the war, stealing their food, water, and all their clothes, almost causing them to die of hunger and cold.

The general's younger brother organizes a large-scale search hoping to find the general's whereabouts. The soldier carries the injured general on his back to evade the pursuing forces.

However, the general escapes when the soldier lets down his guard.

By coincidence, both are captured separately by a nomadic tribe. The tribe soldiers bully and beat them, leading them to forget their respective status and identity. They decide to escape together. Due to their significant differences in character and behavior, their escape plan encounters obstacles again.

Later, with the help of a Central Plains songstress, they manage to escape smoothly. But things are not as simple as they imagined; ambushes lie ahead...
