Poor Earth could not escape a great war among humans after all. The result was predictable: a large number of human deaths, the civilized world reduced to ruins, and even a huge hole blasted in the atmosphere layer. It seemed that fragile humans could only await death's arrival in an increasingly harsh environment.
However, there is a mysterious book said to be able to save humanity from suffering. An even more mysterious lone hero, Eli (played by Denzel Washington), must protect this book as he traverses the wasteland of the American continent to complete his mission of saving the world. Along the way, word of "The Book of Eli" spreads, and many survivors become viciously determined to seize the book for themselves. Eli encounters numerous fierce battles along the way. Especially when facing the cunning and sinister Carnegie (played by Gary Oldman) and his gang, the struggle becomes relentless. Fortunately, the lone hero is not alone for long; Eli encounters the mysterious young girl Solara (played by Mila Kunis). Together, they fight against evil-doers, travel together, and bring new hope to the future of a post-apocalyptic Earth...
