Edward Dalton (played by Ethan Hawke) is a senior researcher who works for a large corporation. His boss is Charles Bromley (played by Sam Neill), an incredibly wealthy vampire who controls the earth's resources. Bromley hopes to find an alternative to blood as sustenance, aiming to alleviate the current predicament faced by the vampire community while reaping substantial profits.
