Plot Overview:
This is a story about people around the world who discover they have extraordinary superpowers and try to use these abilities to change their lives.
The producer of "Heroes," Brian Fuller, stated that the season three finale would set the tone for season four's storyline. "We spent a lot of time discussing with the writers how season four should develop. Basically, the last episode of this season, which is episode 25, is similar to previous endings, opening a new chapter for 'Heroes.'"
Key character settings include:
An Indian genetics professor who travels to New York after his father goes missing and begins exploring a mysterious theory — that some ordinary people may possess superpowers.
A dreamer who tries to convince his politician brother that he can fly.
A high school cheerleader who discovers she is invulnerable.
A Las Vegas stripper struggling to support her son who finds out she can alter her reflection in the mirror.
A prisoner who wakes up mysteriously outside the prison walls.
A talented painter whose life and relationship with his girlfriend were ruined by drugs but discovers he can paint visions of the future.
A policeman who seems to solve cases purely by luck but actually has the power to read minds.
In Japan, a young man who can stop time purely through mental force.
When the shadow of an eclipse falls on Earth, an Indian genetics professor uncovers a shocking secret due to his father's mysterious disappearance: superpowers are hidden within many ordinary people. A young dreamer, 30-year-old Peter Petrelli, tries to prove to his brother, a successful novelist, that he can fly; 17-year-old high school cheerleader Claire Bennet discovers she cannot be harmed by any physical means; 33-year-old Las Vegas exotic dancer Niki Sanders struggles to support her son and finds she can alter her reflection in the mirror; 31-year-old D.L. Hawkins fools the prison authorities twice because he has the ability to pass through walls; 28-year-old artist Diego Medina, a drug addict whose addiction has destroyed his life and love, but when high, he can depict future events through his brush; Los Angeles patrol officer Matt Parkman, who possesses the superpower of hearing people's thoughts and is assigned to hunt down a cunning serial killer; 24-year-old Japanese comic fan Hiro Nakamura who can make time stand still by wishing.
Where do these superpowers come from? What do they mean for these superhero characters? When enemies appear trying to use their superpowers for their own sinister plans, these super-powered heroes instinctively gather together to fight against their common enemy and also to save the entire world.
"Heroes" is the latest sci-fi TV series launched by NBC in September 2006. "Heroes" focuses on individuals with various special abilities from all over the world and builds the entire story around them. Initially, the main characters of "Heroes" lived ordinary lives like everyone else, but they gradually realized they possessed certain traits.
The ambitious "Heroes" continues to recruit talent for its fourth season. Ray Park ("The Phantom Menace," "X-Men") will play a superpowered "knife-thrower"; Deanne Bray ("The L Word") will play a superpowered deaf woman; Robert Knepper ("Prison Break") will play a superpowered villainous character appearing in at least six episodes. As previously reported, Madeline Zima ("Californication") will play Claire's college roommate, who also possesses superpowers.
Meanwhile, rumors persist that the show's key figure Bryan Fuller might leave the production team to work on another NBC series (possibly "Day One" or "Caprica"). If the rumors are true, "Heroes" will lose its last hope. Currently, Bryan Fuller serves as a "producer advisor" for "Heroes."
Executive producer Tim Kring revealed the basic situation of season four. He said one of the themes of season four is to discuss the issue of how superpowered individuals "should live" — should they hide their powers and live quietly, or should they reveal their powers to the world and live honestly?
Tim Kring said that season four's story will revolve around Claire. Claire attends university in Washington, deals with her parents' separation, and handles "mysterious suicide cases" on campus (is it a Veronica Mars-style plot?). The "roommate" played by Madeline Zima undoubtedly plays a crucial role in this storyline.
Tim Kring said that Peter Petrelli will distance himself from his family and friends, becoming a "lone ranger" saving others, much like Batman in "The Dark Knight." Peter will meet a new "love interest" this season, and this powerful woman will change his life and destiny.
Sylar will eventually "shed" Nathan Petrelli's "skin"; Matt Parkman's feud with Sylar prevents him from leading a normal life with his wife and children. Angela Petrelli and HRG may establish a new "Company," but it won't be as radical as the previous one. And Hiro may significantly reduce the number of time-traveling instances in season four (or even stop using it altogether).
