Synopsis of the complete version of Xin Nong Ben Duo Qing:
In 1941, amidst the turmoil of war in mainland China and the fall of Shanghai, Xue'er and her family sought refuge in the concessions. The harsh realities of life eroded Gui Ting's courage and conscience, leading him to abandon his wife and child to rekindle an old relationship with wealthy socialite Liao Wan Zhen. On the brink of despair and contemplating suicide, Xue'er was saved by Bai Lang, who introduced her to the film industry. Shanghai tycoon Qiao Xian Nong set his sights on the now famous Xue'er, hoping to use her to regain custody of her son from Gui Ting. Tragically, her son met an untimely death after falling from a building. In retaliation, Xue'er turned to Xian Nong, using his wealth and power to strike back at Gui Ting. Bai Lang, in an effort to win Xue'er back, agreed to serve as the head of the Investigation Bureau for the puppet government under Wang Jianguo. Eventually, he managed to reunite with Xue'er and they became husband and wife. Still not entirely over Xue'er, Xian Nong incited and assisted her in devising a grand plan for revenge against Gui Ting. Realizing her inherent goodness, Xue'er heeded Bai Lang's stern warning, chose to abandon her plans for vengeance, and attempted to reconcile with Bai Lang. Regretting his alliance with Wang Jianguo, Bai Lang saw the truth too late. To save Bai Lang, Xue'er sacrificed herself, ultimately choosing to take her own life through poisoning.
