Plot of 24 Season 8 Episode 7:
The eighth season of "24" begins in New York, home to the iconic Statue of Liberty. On a new day, CTU reopens with a new leader, Brian Hastings (Mykelti Williamson, Forrest Gump), who boasts a sharp mind after graduating from an MBA program. Former Marine Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) joins CTU hoping to follow in Jack Bauer's footsteps and will be responsible for field operations. New additions to CTU also include data analyst Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff, Battlestar Galactica) and systems analyst Arlo Glass (John Boyd). Rob Weiss (Chris Diamantopoulos) becomes the new chief of staff for President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), while journalist Meredith Reed (Jennifer Westfeldt, Grey's Anatomy) gets entangled in the events that will unfold over the course of this day.
In addition to Jack and the President, Chloe, portrayed by Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Renee Walker, played by Annie Wersching, make their return to the series. Bollywood star Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) makes his U.S. television debut as Omar Hassan, a Middle Eastern leader on a peace mission to the United States.
