Plot Introduction:
"The Rich Gate" centers around a prominent family in the banking industry. The story begins when a con man infiltrates the family and becomes the second son. In the business world, the second son struggles with the eldest son. Outside of business, both face their own romantic dilemmas: the eldest son marries a noblewoman but has an extramarital affair with a female lawyer he truly loves; the second son, despite deeply loving his adoptive sister, cannot be together due to ethical boundaries. Can the elder brother and his half-brother, who appears to share the same father, only oppose each other? Within this family, the second son experiences the value of family ties but, as a con man, must choose between interests and family bonds. Will he be moved by family affection or will he ultimately choose the path of no return for the sake of interests? Family ties are innocent, but money tempts sin!
Banker Zhuo Yi Yuan (Louis Koo) mistakenly identifies con man Sha Fu Lai (Gregory Lam) as his half-brother Zhuo Yi Ming and helps him become a significant figure in the banking world. Under the guise of family affection, Yi Yuan fails to see Fu Lai's ulterior motives, resulting in nurturing a tiger that eventually causes trouble.
Yi Yuan encounters a riot abroad and gets kidnapped. This humiliating experience drastically changes his personality. Despite repeated attempts by his loving wife He Jue Nian (May Tsui) to counsel him, she is unable to help him overcome the shadow of shame. Instead, it pushes him towards his old lover Dong Ling Zi (Amy Kwok) seeking comfort, shattering years of marital affection.
After entering the Zhuo family, Fu Lai initially tastes the warmth of family affection and discovers that his love interest is none other than his nominal half-sister Zhuo Yi Xin (Maggie Cheung). However, Yi Xin cannot overcome the moral barriers and suppresses her true feelings for Fu Lai, opting instead for Gao Tuo Min (Marco Ngai), who genuinely loves her. Unwilling to lose his love and unwilling to give up wealth, Fu Lai hesitates between emotion and money. Ultimately, he chooses the path of wealth, stepping into the decadent gate of riches.
A series of intense financial battles among passionate men, entangled love stories filled with hatred and tenderness, and severe ethical challenges await like arrows on the string.
