Episode 1: On December 20, 1999, the motherland resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Macao. In the same year, three members of the Lotus Band - Qiao Ziliang, Tong Jie, and Lan Yongren - completed their high school education. Tong Jie left Macao to continue his studies in the UK, Qiao Ziliang went to Guangzhou for university, while Yongren was admitted to the Macao Judiciary Police School. Four years later, Tong Jie returned to Macao, only to find that Yongren had fallen from being a judiciary police officer to a bartender. Ziliang met Tong Zhen and Xiao Yao, who were also from Macao, by chance in Guangzhou. Tong Zhen is actually Tong Jie's younger sister. Both Tong Zhen and Xiao Yao developed feelings for Ziliang.
