In the autumn and winter of 1946, on the Central Plains, the struggle between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party had reached a very intense level. Zhou Xiaofeng, the thenå°‘general and commander of the Kuomintang's 349th Brigade, was actually an underground party member who directly received orders from Yan'an and was in single-line contact. His mission was to incite the uprising of Guo Jinqiu's new Ninth Army, but he did not expect that the 349th Brigade, led by another group of underground party members, would rise up prematurely when the enemy attacked our Tongniu Military Region.
