Plot Summary:
Father-Son Disagreements Often Lead to Friction
Chu Fan and Chu Ci, father and son, can be described as a pair of live adversaries. The father, Fan, is warm-hearted and nostalgic for the strong human emotions of the sixties; the son, Ci, on the other hand, is smooth-talking, pursuing fame and wealth, loving new trends, but indifferent to people. The two are completely opposite, thus often leading to friction.
Ci acts as a spokesperson for a tobacco company, with his eloquence greatly appreciated by his boss. Fan, however, disapproves, believing that one should not promote smoking just for high salaries and benefits. Ci is also dissatisfied with Fan's stubbornness in holding onto an old-fashioned wonton noodle shop with mediocre business, allowing the old partner Cheng Shiyi to slack off, and letting his friend Niu Zhengrong eat for free. To avoid arguments, Ci moved out early, resulting in a very cold relationship between father and son.
Later, Fan developed Alzheimer's disease, forcing Ci to move back to take care of his father, but the two constantly clashed. Fan discovered that Ci was favored by the city's wealthy tycoon Cheng Kunning, who invited him to switch jobs, and deliberately sabotaged it, leaving Ci extremely frustrated. Ci, unable to deal with Fan, then noticed his father's declining ability to live independently, intending to close down the wonton shop and place Fan in a nursing home. However, it turned out that Kun deceived superiors and employees, being a despicable person. Ci wanted to persuade Fan to join forces with Kun, so they could both prosper, but Fan disapproved of Kun's actions and refused Ci.
Fake Affection Turns True, Fate Reverses
Fen has always disliked Ci and often finds opportunities to drive Ci away. To make life easier, Ci pretends to like Fen and starts courting her, thinking that once he wins her heart, he can live comfortably. Unaware of Ci's intentions, Fen believes in his sincerity and is moved. Since entering DuoDuo, Ni has been receiving much attention from Fan. Fan discovers Ni's unchanged nature and wants to refuse. But Du pleads persistently, and Fan eventually agrees. Bì frequently monitors Ni and Fan, forcing them to spend time together. Over time, Ni develops feelings for Fan, but Fan remains unaware... Meanwhile, Ci unknowingly falls for Fen. However, his various disruptive behaviors are uncovered, and Fen learns that Ci's pursuit was fake. Heartbroken and angry, Fen decides to expel Ci. In the past, Ci always sought closeness with Kun to climb the social ladder. However, he gradually understands his father’s principle of helping others, especially after Fen views him as a profit-driven individual and rejects him. This leads to some realizations. At this point, Kun discovers Ci is from the future and learns that he will become successful. With determination, Kun manipulates Ci… Ci realizes he has been used by Kun and tries to stop him, but it's too late… Around the same time, Fan discovers Ci is his son from the future. Instead of blaming him, Fan firmly trusts him. Ci is deeply grateful to Fan and feels responsible for addressing the situation. Thus, Ci pretends to align again with the now-wealthy Kun but ends up being manipulated by him instead…
