Plot Summary:
Sam Choo and his son Tze Choo are like a pair of live enemies. The father Sam is warm-hearted and nostalgic for the strong human feelings of the sixties; the son Tze is smooth-talking, pursuing fame and wealth, loving fashion, but indifferent to people. The two sons and fathers are completely at odds, so they often have friction.
Tze became a spokesperson for a tobacco merchant, winning the boss's appreciation with his sharp tongue. Sam disapproved, thinking that one should not promote smoking just for high salaries and good jobs. Tze also disapproved of Sam stubbornly holding on to his ordinary old wonton noodle shop, indulging his old partner Shih Yi in laziness, and letting his friend Niu Zhengrong eat for free. To avoid arguments, Tze moved out early, and the relationship between father and son became very cold.
Later, Sam developed Alzheimer's disease, and Tze had no choice but to move back to take care of his old father, but their frictions continued. Sam knew that Tze was appreciated by the city's wealthy businessman Cheng Kunmian, who invited him to switch jobs, and deliberately tried to sabotage it, making Tze extremely angry. Just when Tze didn't know what to do with Sam, he saw his father gradually losing his ability to live independently, and decided to close the wonton shop and let Sam stay in an old-age home. Sam discovered Tze's plan and felt heartbroken.
Accidentally Traveling Back in Time
Cotton again invited Tze to meet, and Sam wanted to stop it again, but by a twist of fate, Tze accidentally traveled through time and returned to the sixties!
Tze suddenly returned to the sixties, greatly shocked, and even more surprised when he met the young version of Sam. Sam kindly took in Tze. At this time, Sam was helping Quan in his wonton noodle shop. Although Sam took very good care of Tze, Tze only thought about how to return to modern times, but no matter what method he used, he couldn't go back. Tze also got into conflict with Qing's daughter, Cheng Lanfen, who was straightforward and impulsive. Then new tenant Su Fengni moved in. Ni seemed proper, and Sam had a good impression of her. Later, he learned that Ni was abandoned by a rich man after being seduced, and he fought for justice on her behalf. However, it turned out that Ni was a swindler specializing in scamming lecherous rich men. Her plan was uncovered by Tze, but she moved Sam with her pitiful story. At this time, Ni's sister Su Fenglian also came to depend on them. Sam couldn't bear to see her suffer, so he helped Ni find a job as a salesperson at Dodo upon her request. Besides helping Ni, Sam also reached out to help others. Quan, a single bachelor, always worried about not having a biological son to send him off, so Sam spent money and effort to help him find a match. Another tenant Yi, originally the second-generation heir of a wealthy family, gambled away all his fortune and almost got kicked out by Qing, but Sam raised money to help him rent a bed and quit gambling. Seeing Sam easily soften his heart and help others, his character was no different from later days, which secretly made Tze frustrated. Tze met Cotton by chance, realizing that Cotton would surely become a tycoon in the future. If he could win Cotton's favor, he could rise to prominence, but it turned out that Cotton was a despicable person who deceived employees by lying and cheating. Tze wanted to team up with Sam to rely on Cotton together, and both father and son would prosper, but Sam disapproved of Cotton's behavior and refused Tze.
Fake Affection, True Feelings, Fate Reversal
Fen has always looked at Tze unfavorably and constantly looks for opportunities to drive Tze away. In order to make life easier, Tze pretends to like Fen and starts courting her, thinking that once he wins Fen's affection, he can live a peaceful life. Fen, unaware of the truth, mistakenly believes Tze's sincerity and is moved. Since Ni started working at Dodo, Sam has always taken good care of and guided her. But Ni isn't interested in work; her purpose in entering Dodo is to set her sights on Duo and lure him to cheat for money. After much difficulty, Ni finally hooks up with Duo, but this is noticed by Duo's wife Xie Daibì. Ni and Duo, in order to cover up, actually come up with the idea of pretending to be a married couple with Sam and Ni. Sam discovers that Ni hasn't changed her ways and wants to refuse. But Duo pleads bitterly, and Sam eventually agrees. Bì often comes to monitor Ni and Sam, forcing them to interact frequently. Over time, Ni actually develops feelings for Sam, but Sam doesn't realize it... Meanwhile, Tze unknowingly falls for Fen, but at this point, his various disruptive behaviors are exposed, and Fen learns that his pursuit of her was fake. Heartbroken and angry, Fen wants to drive Tze away. Sam strongly pleads on Tze's behalf, and everyone is arguing when Fen's fate undergoes a great change... It turns out that Qing has long suspected that her daughter was swapped with Bì's child many years ago. Using every means possible, Qing successfully exchanges Bì's daughter Pianpian... Sam tells Pian about Cotton's deceitful behavior, and Pian wants to expose it to Duo. Cotton finds out and decides that Sam is the root cause of trouble. Cotton then resolves to ruin Sam's relationship with Pian, bringing in Ni to stir things up. Tze discovers Ni's plan and engages in a battle of wits with her to stop her from causing harm. Sam uncovers Ni's scheme, and they become sworn enemies. Ultimately, Tze realizes that Ni might also be his mother and rushes to mend the situation.
The Truth Comes Out, Realization of Past Mistakes
In the past, Tze always wanted to get close to Cotton to climb the social ladder, but he gradually understands his father's principle of benefiting others, especially since Fen sees him as a profit-driven individual and rejects him, prompting him to start reflecting. At this moment, Cotton discovers that Tze is from the future and learns that he will become wealthy, so he becomes resolute... Tze realizes he has been used by Cotton and tries to stop him, but it's too late... Meanwhile, Sam also discovers that Tze is actually his son from the future, and he doesn't blame him at all, firmly trusting him. Tze is deeply grateful to Sam and feels responsible for dealing with the matter. Thus, he pretends to join the already wealthy Cotton again but ends up being exploited by him...
