Synopsis:
Set in the Tang Dynasty palace, the story revolves around the power struggles within the four departments responsible for preparing the Empress's attire. It vividly portrays the intrigues of women in the imperial harem. Charmaine Sheh plays the role of Liu Sanhao, a palace maid who, through her "three good" principles - having good intentions, speaking kindly, and doing good deeds - manages to rise above the complex harem struggles. She also develops a romantic relationship with Kenneth Chan, reminiscent of the romance between Dae Jang Geum and Minister Min.
Liu Sanhao (played by Charmaine Sheh) and Yao Jinling (played by Fiona Yuen) are sworn sisters in the palace. As low-ranking maids, they are frequently tasked with various chores. The harem is governed by four departments: the Department of Food led by Tan Yanshang (played by Rebecca Ho), the Department of Embroidery led by Zhong Xuexia (played by Snowflake), the Department of Decorations led by Hu Su'en (played by Qian Shan), and the Department of Jewelry led by Ruan Cuicloud (played by Kate Law). These four vie for power and position, leading to constant conflicts. Innocent Sanhao and Jinling become scapegoats in these power struggles. Despite enduring numerous hardships, Sanhao remains steadfast in her "three good" principles, whereas Jinling, after being mistreated, seeks revenge. During her service to Emperor Li Yi (played by Aaron Kwok), she secretly seduces him, eventually becoming Consort Li. She then engages in a rivalry with Consort Xian Wan Baoxian (played by Queenie Leung). Meanwhile, Sanhao, with her clever hands and quick wit, rises to the rank of Chief Palace Maid. When both Sanhao and Jinling gain influence, their sisterly bond fractures as both are in love with palace guard Gao Xianyang (played by Kenneth Chan). Jinling aims to punish the four departments, but Sanhao repays their ill-treatment with kindness and strives to protect them. Jinling uses this opportunity to persecute Sanhao...
