Plot Summary:

A man who loves his kingdom but loves a beautiful woman even more. During his childhood in Zhao Country’s Handan city, young King Zheng of Qin (Emperor Qin Shi Huang portrayed by Liu De-kai) was held as a hostage and frequently bullied. Beautiful and kind herbalist Afang (portrayed by Zhao Ya-zhi), despite her father's opposition, tenderly cared for the often severely beaten young Zheng, treating his wounds with medicine she prepared herself. Over time, their childhood friendship blossomed into first love.

As they grew older, after returning to the State of Qin and ascending the throne, Afang also came to Qin with her father and master to collect herbs for the elixir of immortality. They met again in Qin. However, the real power in the court was held by Chancellor Lü Bu-wei (played by Gu Zheng) and the Empress Dowager (played by Li Xin). Despite being king, the young Qin Shi Huang had no actual power and could not govern on his own. Restricted by powerful ministers and manipulated by small-minded individuals, he couldn’t even make the woman he loved his empress. Faced with challenges from the other six states and the need to secure his own survival, the young king had to take a series of countermeasures. Eventually, he successfully annexed the six other states, unifying the warring states, but lost the only woman he truly loved—Afang. In her memory, he built the Afang Palace. Their touching and tragic love story moves the heart.
