Plot Summary:
"Rich Gate" revolves around a wealthy family involved in the banking industry. Everything begins when a con man infiltrates the family and becomes the second son. In the business world, the second son struggles with the eldest son. Outside of business, both face their own romantic dilemmas: the eldest son marries into a prestigious family but has an extramarital affair with his true love, a female lawyer; the second son is deeply in love with the third sister, who shares no blood relation with him, yet they cannot be together due to ethical constraints. Can the eldest son and his half-brother, who appears to be so on the surface, only oppose each other? The second son feels the value of family affection within this household but, as a con man, he can only choose between interests and family ties. Will he be moved by family bonds or will he ultimately choose the path of no return for the sake of profit? Family affection is not sinful, but money tempts sin!
Banker Zhuo Yiyuan (Louis Koo) mistakenly identifies con man Sha Fulaie (Robert Guo) as his half-brother Zhuo Yi Ming and helps him become a significant figure in the banking industry. Under the illusion of family affection, Yiyuan fails to see the malice in Fulaie, leading to nurturing a tiger that eventually causes harm.
Yiyuan is kidnapped during a riot abroad, and this humiliating experience drastically changes his personality. Despite repeated attempts by his loving wife He Juenian (Mui Chui) to counsel him, she is unable to help him overcome the shadow of shame, which further drives him towards his old lover Dong Lingzi (Grace Ofelia) for comfort. Years of marital affection are shattered.
After entering the Zhuo family, Fulaie initially experiences the warmth of family affection and discovers that his beloved one is none other than his nominal half-sister Zhuo Yixin (Maggie Cheung). However, constrained by moral barriers, Yixin suppresses her true feelings for Fulaie and instead turns to Gao Tuomin (Marco Ngai), who is deeply in love with her. Unable to lose his beloved one and unwilling to give up wealth, Fulaie hesitates between emotions and money, ultimately choosing the path of wealth, stepping into the decadent door of riches.
A series of passionate battles over money among men, entangled stories of love and hatred, and severe tests challenging ethics are imminent.
