Introduction to The Good Wife:
This is CBS's hottest new drama series this year, starring Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies, who has delivered outstanding performances in "ER," "Mists of Avalon," and "The Lost Room." The story mainly revolves around Peter (Chris Noth), a politician who is imprisoned for sexual scandals and political scandals. His wife, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), must end her life as a housewife and independently take on the responsibility of supporting her family. Putting aside her husband's betrayal and negative public influence, just the strange looks from others would be enough to make Alicia, such a high-ranking official's wife, too ashamed to leave the house. However, Alicia was not intimidated by the difficulties; she not only had to show her face in public but also had to pick up her pre-marriage career - defense attorney.
As a junior partner at a well-known Chicago law firm, Alicia was welcomed back by her old friend Will Gardner (Josh Charles). Will was Alicia's classmate when she studied law and is now a senior employee of this law firm. He was delighted to see Alicia return and wanted to see how this once formidable female powerhouse would perform in court after thirteen years. Alicia also received significant promotion and guidance from Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), the company's top litigation lawyer, which made her feel honored and grateful. But she soon realized that these "guidances" came with conditions; Diane wasn't as "enthusiastic" as she seemed. To achieve success, Alicia could only rely on herself.
Alicia's main competitor in the company is a young man in his twenties named Cary (Matt Czuchry). He recently graduated from Harvard University and appears very friendly on the surface. In fact, to ensure his position in the company and obtain the coveted "senior partner" position, he would stop at nothing. If Alicia became an obstacle to him, he wouldn't hesitate to remove her. Fortunately, Alicia wasn't entirely alone in the company; Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), who handles investigations and evidence collection, was Alicia's most steadfast supporter.
"Confidence every day," Alicia understands the meaning of this phrase. From being a despised politician's wife to becoming a reinvigorated career woman, this path might be long, but Alicia doesn't care. She wants to live for herself and also plans ahead for her 14-year-old son Zach (Graham Phillips) and 13-year-old daughter Grace (Makenzie Vega). For so many years, Alicia felt for the first time that fate was in her own hands; she was no longer the weak, manipulable "virtuous wife" but a free woman.
