The female protagonist, Lin Wanru, is forced to work as a waitress in a brothel to pay off debts. There, she meets Gao Minghui, the young master of the Shengchang Timber Shop in town, and they fall in love with each other. Minghui has a cousin named Jin Feng who grew up with him since childhood.
