Storyline Introduction:
The story begins in the short-lived Sui Dynasty of Chinese history. The notorious lecherous emperor, Emperor Yang of Sui, organized a Miss Sui competition to gather beauties under the instigation of his treacherous minister, Yuwen Huaji. Women from all over rushed to participate in this contest to gain the emperor's favor. Yuwen Huaji took advantage of the situation by accepting bribes and predetermined Zhu Xiaoxiao as the winner.
Another civilian woman, Yao Yingying, was forced by her stepfather to join the competition. Her stunning beauty astonished everyone present. However, Yuwen Huaji detained her for his own desires until someone secretly reported him to Emperor Yang. An imperial decree suddenly arrived, declaring that Yao Yingying would be crowned as the champion and sent to the capital immediately.
