"You Will Never Walk Alone" tells an emotional story of mutual redemption between relatives and lovers from two traumatic families. Jin Yongfang (played by Zhao Ziqi) grew up in a single-parent family. Her father, a police detective, died on duty when she was 19 years old, leaving her to live alone, with only her father's colleague Ren Shujun often helping her out. Her younger sister Yi Nan (played by Liu Yun), who moved to Nanjing with their mother when she remarried, comes to Beijing for graduate school, bringing the estranged sisters back together under one roof. Jin Yongfang, suffering from alcohol dependency due to prolonged loneliness, Yi Nan, who is carefree and willful, Meng Ze (played by Niu Qingfeng), who was sent to prison by his own mother Ren Shujun and has now been released after serving his sentence, and Father Meng, who has long been suppressed by his detective wife, are all brought together under one roof. A series of conflicts and contradictions erupt within this "patchwork household", wavering between reason and emotion, prompting reflection on the true meaning of love and redemption.
