Introduction to The Good Wife:

This is CBS's hottest new drama of the year, starring Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies, who has delivered excellent performances in ER, Mists of Avalon, and The Lost Room. The story focuses on Peter (Chris Noth), a politician imprisoned for sexual and political scandals, after which his wife Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) must end her life as a homemaker and take on the responsibility of supporting her family independently. Putting aside her husband's betrayal and negative public impact, just the strange looks from others are enough to make Alicia, such a politician's wife, too ashamed to leave her house. However, Alicia is not intimidated by these difficulties; she not only steps out but also resumes her pre-marriage career as a defense attorney.

As a junior partner at a well-known Chicago law firm, Alicia is welcomed by her old friend Will Gardner (Josh Charles). Will was Alicia's classmate in law school and is also a senior employee at this law firm. He is happy to see Alicia return and wants to see how this once powerful woman will perform in court after thirteen years. Alicia also receives strong support and guidance from Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), the top litigation lawyer at the firm, which makes her feel honored and grateful. But she soon discovers that these "guidances" come with conditions, and Diane is not as "enthusiastic" as she seems. To achieve success, Alicia can only rely on herself.

Alicia's main competitor in the company is a young man in his twenties named Cary (Matt Czuchry). He recently graduated from Harvard University and appears very friendly on the surface. In fact, to ensure his position in the company and obtain the coveted "senior partner" position, he spares no effort. If Alicia becomes an obstacle, he will not hesitate to remove her. Fortunately, Alicia is not alone in the company; Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), who is responsible for investigation work, is Alicia's strongest supporter.

"Confidence every day," Alicia understands the meaning of this phrase. From being a despised politician's wife to becoming a reinvigorated professional woman, this path may be long, but Alicia doesn't care. She wants to live for herself and also plans ahead for her 14-year-old son Zach (Graham Phillips) and 13-year-old daughter Grace (Makenzie Vega). For so many years, Alicia feels for the first time that her fate is in her own hands; she is no longer the weak, manipulable "good wife," but a free woman.
