TVB's October Anniversary Series "Prosperity Gate" in its entirety, also known as "Money Temptation."
Synopsis:
"Prosperity Gate" is centered around a large family involved in the banking industry. Everything starts when a con man infiltrates the family and becomes the second son. In the business world, the second son struggles with the first son. Outside of business, both face their own romantic dilemmas: the first son marries into a prestigious family but has an extramarital affair with his true love, a female lawyer; the second son deeply loves the third daughter who is not related by blood, but they cannot be together due to ethical boundaries. The first son and his half-brother on the surface are adversaries. However, within this family, the second son feels the value of familial bonds but, as a con man, he must choose between profit and family ties. Will he be moved by family affection or will he ultimately choose profit and walk down a path of no return? Family ties are innocent, but money tempts sin!
Banker Tak Yat-Yuen (Louis Koo) mistakenly identifies con man Sa Fu-Lai (Robert Guo) as his half-brother Tak Yat-Ming, helping him become a significant figure in the banking world. Blinded by family affection, Yat-Yuen fails to recognize Fu-Lai's ill intentions, resulting in nurturing a tiger that eventually causes harm.
Yat-Yuen encounters a riot abroad and is kidnapped. This humiliating experience drastically changes his personality. Despite repeated attempts by his loving wife Ho Cheuk-Nin (Mui Ching) to counsel him, she is unable to help him escape the shadow of shame. Instead, it drives him towards his old lover Tong Ling-Tzi (Fiona Sit) for comfort. Years of marital affection are shattered in an instant.
After entering the Tak family, Fu-Lai initially experiences the warmth of family affection and discovers that his beloved is none other than his nominal half-sister Tak Yat-Sam (Maggie Cheung). But Yat-Sam, constrained by moral boundaries, suppresses her true feelings for Fu-Lai and instead chooses Ko Tat-Min (Marcus Ma), who genuinely loves her. Unwilling to lose his love, yet unwilling to give up wealth, Fu-Lai wavers between emotion and money. Ultimately, he chooses the path of wealth, stepping into the decadent gates of prosperity.
A series of intense male battles over money, entangled stories of love and hatred, and severe tests challenging ethics are set like arrows on the string, ready to be released.
