Plot Introduction:
Four months ago, a terrible car accident took the lives of their parents. But with the new school year approaching, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev) and her 15-year-old brother Jeremy (played by Steven R. McQueen) must try to forget their sorrow and continue living.
Elena has always been the "star student" at her local school—beautiful, popular, and able to integrate into campus life and socialize with her friends. However, this new semester, she must work hard to hide the pain of losing her parents both in public and in private.
The new school year seems not much different from before, but the arrival of the transfer student Stefan Salvatore (played by Paul Wesley) changes everything. Elena and her friends can't help but be captivated by this exceptionally handsome yet mysterious new student.
As if drawn together by some unseen force, Stefan and Elena are deeply attracted to each other upon their first meeting. However, Elena would never have guessed that this charming young man is actually a vampire who has lived for centuries.
