Plot Summary of Witches of East End Season 1 Episode 08:
09 Western Comedy TV Series "Witches of East End Season 1" with Chinese Subtitles
Synopsis:
If one housewife can do incredible things, what about three? Be careful what you wish for... In the seaside town of East End, mounting evidence suggests that witches are about to be "born." Before today, Roxanne (played by Rebecca Romijn), Kat (played by Jaime Ray Newman), and Joanna (played by Lindsay Price) didn't know each other, and their lives had no overlap (this differs from the movie version). Roxanne is an eccentric artist who owns her own art store, dates a much younger man (Matt Dallas), and has a daughter who thinks she's incredibly smart; Kat is a submissive wife and mother of five children, whose relationship with her husband Raymond has been strained for a long time; and Joanna is a somewhat conservative and introverted journalist working at a local newspaper.
A mysterious force brings these three women together unexpectedly in the Central Park of the small town. With the help of a few Margaritas, they quickly become close friends who share everything. Soon, a mysterious person arrives in town. He will attempt to bring them closer and test them in ways they cannot imagine.
Daryl Van Horne (played by Paul Gross), wealthy, handsome, elegant, charming, and occasionally exuding the sexual appeal of a bad boy, pretends to be in town on business as he tries to seduce our three heroines. More dangerously, he awakens their inherent superpowers, turning them into full-fledged "witches." As he ignites their inner passions, he may have also opened Pandora's box... When they discover their "potential," the town begins to "turn upside down." While some residents may be affected, this could be the most magical event to happen in East End in centuries.
The show is co-created by Chris Carter of "The X-Files" fame and Maggie Friedman, the writer of "Once and Again." It is a work reminiscent of "Desperate Housewives" but emulates "Charmed." On the surface, it tells stories of witches and fantasy, but in reality, it explores the inner world of mature women. The source material is a best-selling novel written by author John Updike years ago, which was adapted into a popular film in the '90s. On tv.com's list of the top 100 science fiction series, "Charmed" has consistently ranked at the top, showing how much audiences love similar works. We don't know if "Witches of East End" can reach the same heights, but we shall wait and see.
There's a little side story worth mentioning: The producer and director David Nutter holds a Hollywood record where all the television pilots he has directed in recent years have successfully turned into regular series without exception, as if aided by divine intervention. Among the 14 projects he has directed are well-known works such as "The Mentalist," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Traveller," and "Supernatural." This year, since "Witches of East End" was successfully ordered, his "unbroken streak" will continue.
