TVB The Palace 16 episodes plot:
The 2009 TVB October anniversary grand production of the costume drama "The Palace" in its entirety features Charmaine Sheh, Frankie Ng, and Fiona Sit in leading roles.
Plot Summary:
Set against the backdrop of the Tang Dynasty court, the story tells of the open rivalry within the four chambers responsible for preparing the empress's attire. Focusing on the intrigues of women in the Tang Dynasty harem, it portrays their schemes and emotions. Charmaine Sheh plays the maid Liu Sanhao, who, with her "three good" spirit—having good intentions, speaking kindly, and doing good deeds—manages to rise above the complex palace struggles. In the drama, she develops a romantic relationship with Frankie Ng that mirrors the love between Dae Jang Geum and Minister Min.
Liu Sanhao (played by Charmaine Sheh) and Yao Jinling (played by Fiona Sit) are sworn sisters in the palace. As lowly maids, they are constantly at the beck and call of others. At the time, the harem was controlled by four departments: the Department of Food led by Tan Yanshang (played by Michelle Ye), responsible for delicious meals; the Department of Embroidery led by Zhong Xuexia (played by Snowy Mi), responsible for embroidered garments; the Department of Decorations led by Hu Su'en (played by Sally Yuen), responsible for palace furnishings; and the Department of Treasures led by Ruan Cuicloud (played by Gillian Chung), responsible for jewelry. These four vie for power and position, leading to endless conflict. Innocent Sanhao and Jinling are forced to become scapegoats. Despite enduring countless hardships, Sanhao remains steadfast in her "three goods" philosophy, but Jinling, after being bullied repeatedly, decides to seek revenge. During one opportunity while serving Emperor Li Yi (played by Soler Chan), Jinling secretly seduces him, eventually becoming Empress Consort Li. She then begins to compete with Empress Consort Xian Wan Baoxian (played by Emily Li). Meanwhile, Sanhao, with her clever hands and quick wit, becomes a chief palace attendant. When both Sanhao and Jinling gain influence, their sisterly bond fractures as both are enamored with palace guard Gao Xianyang (played by Frankie Ng). Jinling seeks to punish the four departments, but Sanhao repays them with kindness and strives to protect them. Using this, Jinling turns around and persecutes Sanhao...
