Plot Summary:
"Rich Gate" is set around a large family operating in the banking industry, with everything starting when a conman infiltrates the family and becomes the second son. In the business world, the second son battles against the eldest son. Outside of business, both face their own romantic dilemmas: the eldest son marries into a prestigious family but has an extramarital affair with a female lawyer he truly loves; the second son deeply loves the third daughter who is not blood-related to him, yet they cannot be together due to ethical boundaries. Can the eldest son and his half-brother on the surface only confront each other? In this family, the second son feels the value of familial bonds but, as a conman, he can only choose between interests and family ties—will he be moved by family affection or choose profit, ultimately embarking on a path of no return? Family ties are blameless, but money tempts sin!
Banker Zhuo Yi Yuan (Michael Lui) mistakenly identifies conman Sha Fu Lai (Jasper Liu) as his half-brother Zhuo Yi Ming and helps him become a significant figure in the banking world. Under the guise of family affection, Yi Yuan fails to recognize Fu Lai's hidden ill intentions, leading to nurturing a tiger that will eventually harm him.
Yi Yuan encounters a riot abroad and gets kidnapped. This embarrassing experience drastically changes his personality. Despite repeated attempts by his loving wife He Jue Nian (May Tse) to counsel him, she is unable to help him escape the shadow of shame, pushing him towards his old lover Dong Ling Zi (Ada Choi) for solace. Years of marital affection crumble in an instant.
After entering the Zhuo family, Fu Lai initially tastes the warmth of family love and discovers that his beloved one is none other than Zhuo Yi Xin (Maggie Cheung), who is nominally his half-sister. But Yi Xin cannot overcome the moral barriers, suppressing her true feelings for Fu Lai, and instead turns to Gao Tuo Min (Marcus Ma), who ardently loves her. Fu Lai is unwilling to lose his love but also refuses to give up wealth, hesitating between emotion and money, ultimately choosing the path of wealth, stepping into the decadent gate of riches.
One by one, passionate struggles over money, entangled stories of love and hate, and severe tests challenging ethics are like arrows on the string.
