The 2009 TVB October anniversary production of the ancient costume drama "The Glory of Tang Palace" in its entirety stars Charmaine Sheh, Kenneth Chung, and Kelly Yeung.
Plot Summary:
Set against the backdrop of the Tang Dynasty court, it tells of the open struggles within the four rooms of the palace that prepare the Empress's attire. With the Tang Dynasty harem as its background, it fully narrates the affairs and schemes of the women of the harem. Charmaine Sheh plays the role of palace maid Liu Sanhao, who relies on her "three goods" spirit—having good intentions, speaking well, and doing good—to rise above the complex harem struggles and develops a romantic relationship with "rumored couple" Kenneth Chung that somewhat resembles the love between Dae Jang Geum and Minister Min.
Liu Sanhao (Charmaine Sheh) and Yao Jinling (Kelly Yeung) are a pair of sworn sisters in the palace. As young maids, they are often given orders. At the time, the harem was controlled by four departments: Tan Yan Chang (Wendy Ho), responsible for fine foods; Zhong Xue Xia (Sally Yeh), responsible for embroidered garments; Hu Su En (Qwen Yu), in charge of decorations; and Ruan Cuiyun (Gillian Chung), managing jewelry. These four constantly struggle for power and position, forcing the innocent Sanhao and Jinling to become scapegoats. Despite enduring countless hardships, Sanhao remains steadfast in her three goods philosophy, but Jinling, after being mistreated, decides to seek revenge. Once, while serving Emperor Li Yi (Aaron Kwok), she secretly seduces him and becomes Consort Li, subsequently engaging in a rivalry with Consort Wan Baoxian (Po Yuen Li). Meanwhile, Sanhao, with her clever hands and heart, rises to become the head of the palace department. When both Sanhao and Jinling hold power, their sisterly bond breaks due to their mutual affection for palace guard Gao Xianyang (Kenneth Chung). Jinling seeks to punish the four departments, but Sanhao repays them with kindness and strives to protect all four. Jinling then uses this opportunity to persecute Sanhao...
