In the 1930s Shanghai, the famous dancer Liang Yunxiu was not contaminated by the dirty surrounding. She earned the sincere friendship of another dancer Manli. The rich young master Zhao Longfei and petty trader Chen Guangming were deeply in love with her. Yunxiu despised fame and wealth, so she married the timid Guangming. After marriage, she devoted herself to taking care of her husband and children and supported her family by working as a seamstress. However, unknown to all, the frustrated Guangming had an affair with college student Zhao Fengxiang. After giving birth to Guangming's son, Zhao Fengxiang committed suicide.
