Synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of the Tang Dynasty court, the story tells of the open and hidden power struggles within the four departments responsible for preparing the Empress's attire. Using the Tang Dynasty harem as a backdrop, it portrays the intrigues and machinations of women in the harem. Charmaine Sheh plays the role of palace maid Liu Sanhao, who with her 'three goodness' spirit of 'having good intentions, speaking well, and doing good deeds,' rises to prominence amidst the complex harem struggles, and develops a romantic relationship with Karl Yue that resembles the love between Dae Jang Geum and Minister Min.
Liu Sanhao (Charmaine Sheh) and Yao Jinling (Fiona Yim) are sworn sisters in the palace. As junior maids, they are often given many errands. At the time, the harem was controlled by four departments: the Department of Food headed by Tan Yanshang (Nancy Wu), the Department of Embroidery headed by Zhong Xuexia (Sally Yeh), the Department of Decorations headed by Hu Su'en (Qian Shan), and the Department of Jewelry headed by Ruan Cuiyun (Julia Chan). These four were constantly vying for power and position, causing endless strife. Innocent Sanhao and Jinling were even forced to become scapegoats. Despite enduring numerous hardships, Sanhao continues to uphold her three goodness principles. However, Jinling, after being subjected to much bullying, decides to seek revenge. Once, while serving Emperor Li Yi (Christopher Choi), she secretly seduces him, eventually becoming Consort Li. She then engages in power struggles with Consort Xian Wan Baoxian (Cecilia Lee). Meanwhile, through her ingenuity and cleverness, Sanhao becomes the head of the department responsible for the Empress’s attire. When both Sanhao and Jinling hold significant power, their sisterly bond breaks apart. It turns out that both have feelings for palace guard Gao Xianyang (Karl Yue). Jinling seeks to punish the four departments, but Sanhao repays their grievances with kindness and strives to protect them. Taking advantage of this, Jinling forces Sanhao into a perilous situation...
