According to Korean media reports, in the first half of this year, the Korean music scene was dominated by idol groups. Teenage idol groups such as SS501, TVXQ, Super Junior (SJ), BigBang, FT.Island, Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, Shinee, 2PM, and 2NE1 took turns performing on the stage, creating one whirlwind after another in the Korean entertainment industry. In response to this trend, SBS will launch a TV drama in October titled *Play It Cool* (*It's Okay, It's Just My Fate*), which focuses on the development journey of teenage idols, continuing this wave of enthusiasm.

As the follow-up to *Swallow the Sun*, *Play It Cool* is set against the backdrop of the growth process of idol group members, depicting the love and challenges they experience on their path to fame, revealing to the audience the various encounters of these dazzling performers off-stage. Currently, the production team is in the midst of casting, selecting actors around 20 years old, as well as actual idol group members to star in the series. The popular Hong sisters, who gained immense popularity through *Fantasy Couple*, will once again collaborate to write the script for this drama.

Recently, South Korea’s television industry has frequently focused its lens on the entertainment world. Following the great success of SBS's *On Air* last year, several hit dramas such as *Boyfriend of a Star* and *That Fool* have emerged. This time, SBS has directed its focus on the most attention-grabbing teenage idols, once again capturing widespread public interest. Whether *Play It Cool* can surpass previous works remains to be seen.

According to South Korean media reports, actor Jang Geun-seok has recently been selected as the male lead for SBS's new drama *Play It Cool*, which will air in October, marking his return to television screens after more than a year. On the afternoon of July 27th, director Hong Seong-chang announced that after much consideration, Jang Geun-seok was ultimately chosen as the male lead, and an oral agreement regarding his participation had been reached with his agency. *Play It Cool* tells the story of a simple rural boy who accidentally becomes a member of an idol group and experiences various events. Through the growth journey of the male protagonist portrayed by Jang Geun-seok, the ordinary side of teenage idols is revealed to the audience. The script is written by the Hong sisters, who created *Fantasy Couple*, while Park Shin-hye plays the female lead. The drama will premiere in October in South Korea as the follow-up to *Swallow the Sun*.

In the current era where idol groups like TVXQ, BIGBANG, 2PM, Girls' Generation, and 2NE1 dominate half of the music scene, another drama featuring them is about to be released.

The new SBS drama *Play It Cool* already has an impressive cast lineup that catches the eye. The drama tells the story of a band of young men and women, exploring their friendships, romances, and conflicts. When a high-popularity idol group A.N.JELL faces a crisis due to the death of its member "Gao Meinan" (played by Park Shin-hye) in an accident, his twin sister "Gao Meinv" (also played by Park Shin-hye) steps in to take his place, leading to a series of stories.

On the 24th, at the press conference for *Play It Cool* held at SBS Mudeung in Seoul, producers Cho Nam-guk and Hong Seong-chang, along with the main cast including Jang Geun-seok (22), Park Shin-hye (19), FTisland member Lee Hong-gi (19), After School member UEE (21), Jung Yoo-mi (20), Kim In-ku (31), and others were present.

Jang Geun-seok plays the role of a talented composer and skilled pianist, serving as the captain of A.N.JELL, named "Hwang Tae-kyung." Although he portrays a stubborn and self-centered character, he is internally more vulnerable than anyone else. Jang Geun-seok said, "I'm very happy to finally be able to play a more natural, relatable character." He also mentioned that since the other actors are younger than him, instead of being taken care of, it's now his turn to take care of others.

He also stated that he currently has no plans to become a singer, and the singing in the drama is purely part of the acting setup. As an actor, he must stay true to his role. On the 10th, Jang Geun-seok released a single titled "Just Drag."

Park Shin-hye plays the roles of twin siblings "Gao Meinan" and "Gao Meinv." She described her character as stiff yet obedient but also mischievous. She said, "There are many scenes of jumping up and down, and occasionally running behind a tractor. So in the drama, you'll see many different sides of me." She added that while she does have quiet moments depending on the role, overall this movie makes her smile more and perhaps even livelier. She also mentioned that her dream is to become a singer, and since there are many singing scenes in the drama, she finds it enjoyable.

The real-life youthful idols Lee Hong-gi and UEE play roles close to their true selves. Lee Hong-gi plays the drummer of A.N.JELL, a cheerful overseas Chinese second-generation. UEE plays a character who has been a star since childhood, someone who can captivate anyone at first glance.

Lee Hong-gi said, "I will work hard to let everyone recognize me as an actor, not just as Lee Hong-gi from FTisland." UEE said, "Since it's my first time acting and I play a villainous role, I didn't know how to act at first and was nervous. But I will definitely try my hardest, and this is my greatest effort recently."

Zheng Ronghua, who has real-life band experience, plays the guitarist of A.N.JELL, named "Jiang Xinyu." He is a charming character despite his cold exterior. He also expressed that he would approach the filming of the drama with a sense of responsibility and mission.

*Play It Cool* will officially premiere on October 7th at 9:55 PM (Korean time) following *Swallow the Sun*.
