According to South Korean media reports, during the first half of this year, the South Korean music scene was dominated by idol groups. Teenage idol groups such as SS501, TVXQ, Super Junior (SJ), BigBang, FT.Island, Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, Shinee, 2PM, and 2NE1 took turns making their mark, creating one whirlwind after another in the South Korean entertainment industry. The SBS television station will also launch a drama series in October titled "It's Okay, It's a Man," which will focus on the development journey of these teenage idols, further fueling this trend.

As a follow-up to "Swallowing the Sun," "It's Okay, It's a Man" is set against the backdrop of the growth process of idol group members, depicting the love and challenges they experience on their path to fame, showcasing the various encounters of these dazzling stage performers in private life. Currently, the production team is in the midst of casting, selecting actors around the age of 20, as well as actual idol group members to star in the series. The popular Hong sisters, known for "Dream Couple," will once again collaborate to write the script.

Recently, South Korean television has frequently turned its lens to the entertainment world. Following the great success of SBS's "On Air" last year, several popular dramas such as "Star's Lover" and "That Fool" have emerged. This time, SBS focuses on the most watched teenage idols, drawing widespread public attention. Whether "It's Okay, It's a Man" can surpass previous works remains to be seen.

According to South Korean media reports, actor Jang Geun-seok has recently been selected as the male lead for the new SBS drama "It's Okay, It's a Man," which will air in October, marking his return to the small screen after more than a year. On the afternoon of July 27th, director Hong Sung-chang announced that after much deliberation, Jang Geun-seok was chosen as the male lead, and an oral agreement had been reached with his agency regarding his participation. "It's Okay, It's a Man" tells the story of a simple country boy who accidentally becomes a member of an idol group, portraying the human side of young idols through the protagonist's growth journey. Written by the Hong sisters, who created "Dream Couple," the female lead is played by Park Shin-hye. The drama will premiere in October as the follow-up to "Swallowing the Sun."

Currently, with idol groups like TVXQ, BIGBANG, 2PM, Girls' Generation, and 2NE1 dominating half of the music industry, a drama featuring them as characters is being produced.

The new SBS drama "It's Okay, It's a Man" already catches your eye with its cast alone. The drama narrates the growth stories of talented boys and girls in a band, exploring friendship, romance, and conflicts among its members. A crisis arises when a popular member of the band A.N.JELL, "Go Mi-Nam" (Park Shin-hye), dies in an accident, leading his twin sister "Go Mi-Nyeo" (Park Shin-hye) to take his place, sparking a series of events.

On July 24th, at the press conference held at SBS Mudeung in Seoul for "It's Okay, It's a Man," producers Cho Nam-guk and director Hong Sung-chang, along with the main cast including Jang Geun-seok (22), Park Shin-hye (19), FTisland member Lee Hong-gi (19), After School member UEE (21), Jung Yoo-mi (20), Kim In-kyu (31), were present.

In the drama, Jang Geun-seok plays the role of a genius composer and skilled pianist, the captain of A.N.JELL, "Hwang Tae-kyung." Despite being a stubborn and self-centered character, he is internally very vulnerable. Jang Geun-seok said, "I'm glad to finally play a more natural, relatable character." He added, "Most of the other actors are younger than me, so while I used to be taken care of, now it's my turn to take care of others."

He also mentioned that he currently has no plans to become a singer, stating that the singing in the drama is purely part of the acting setup. As an actor, he aims to stay true to his role. On the 10th, Jang Geun-seok released a single titled "Just Drag."

Park Shin-hye plays the twins "Go Mi-Nam" and "Go Mi-Nyeo," a rigid yet obedient character who is also quite mischievous. She says, "There are many scenes where I jump around and even run behind a tractor. Through this drama, you'll see many different sides of me." She adds that while there are quiet moments due to her character's changes, overall, this movie has made her smile more and perhaps become livelier. She also shares her dream of becoming a singer, finding joy in the numerous singing scenes in the drama.

Real-life idols Lee Hong-gi and UEE essentially play themselves in the drama. Lee Hong-gi portrays the drummer of A.N.JELL, a cheerful overseas second-generation Korean. UEE plays a character who has been a star since childhood, someone who can captivate anyone at first sight.

Lee Hong-gi says, "I will work hard to let everyone recognize me as an actor, not just as Lee Hong-gi from FTisland." UEE comments, "Since it's my first acting role and I play a villain, I was initially unsure how to act and felt nervous. But I am putting in my best effort lately."

Jung Yoo-mi, who actually has band experience in real life, plays the guitarist of A.N.JELL, "Kang Shin-woo," a character who appears cold but is very charming. He expresses that he will approach the filming of the drama with a sense of responsibility and mission.

"It's Okay, It's a Man" will officially air on October 7th at 9:55 PM (Korean time) following "Swallowing the Sun."
