Ah Chi, a simple country girl, was in love with an artist named Qi Ming. But deceived by her mother, she ends up marrying into a wealthy family.
Her husband, Wen Shou, who often indulges in self-abuse due to his illness, is extremely introverted and isolated. Yet, he falls in love with Ah Chi at first sight. After Ah Chi marries into the family, misfortune after misfortune befalls the Zhang family. The superstitious mother-in-law blames everything on Ah Chi, believing her to be a "sweeping star" (a person who brings bad luck), and gradually develops resentment towards Ah Chi.
However, the kind-hearted Ah Chi faces the family members with composure. Despite their constant scheming and attempts to harm her, she does not hold grudges. Gradually, she begins to see the virtues and care that Wen Shou has for her, and they slowly build a relationship.
Ah Chi's father-in-law, Zhang Yaokun, sees in her the virtue of sincerity that his own children lack. He begins to respect Ah Chi and invites her to work at the company. With the nourishment of love, Wen Shou's health improves day by day, and Zhang Yaokun starts to give him important responsibilities in the company.
