Introduction to Queen Seondeok:
"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Doman (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and navigating palace power struggles, she grows to become the first queen of Silla - Queen Seondeok.
Under the control of Mi-shil (played by Go Hyun Jung) in the harem, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya gave birth to twin daughters. However, for the king, having twins is considered extremely unlucky, signifying "the end of the royal lineage." Reluctantly, King Jinpyeong sent away his second daughter, Doman, but Mi-shil dispatched assassins to secretly pursue and kill her. At a critical moment, Doman was saved by the legendary Hwarang leader, Venu, and entrusted to King Jinpyeong's maid, Cho-hwa, for care. Cho-hwa took Doman to the desert regions of China and raised her in a small inn.
Mi-shil, Doman’s greatest rival, used her extraordinary beauty to win the favor of King Jinheung and seize control over the palace. Ambitious, after King Jinheung's death, she installed the young King Jinpyeong on the throne. When King Jinpyeong's wife bore twin daughters, Mi-shil planned to use their lives to threaten him and directly seize royal power. However, Venhu and Cho-hwa thwarted her plans by rescuing Doman. Not giving up on her quest for the throne, Mi-shil plotted to have her husband ascend to it and viewed Doman's twin sister, Princess Taejong (played by Park Yi Jin), as a major obstacle. Despite being under Mi-shil's control, Princess Taejong displayed exceptional wisdom and sharp judgment, showing her leadership abilities at crucial moments. Although married to Kim Yongsu (played by Park Jung Chul) and bearing a son, Kim Chunchu (played by Yoo Seung Ho), Princess Taejong developed feelings for Kim Yu Shin (played by Um Tae Woong), who once saved her life. The renowned Silla general Kim Yu Shin, with his remarkable martial arts skills, accidentally saved Princess Taejong from an assassination attempt orchestrated by one of Mi-shil's subordinates. Under Princess Taejong's arrangement, Kim Yu Shin met Doman, and while helping Princess Doman achieve her grand vision of unifying the three kingdoms, he grew fond of her, becoming her loyal supporter. With Kim Yu Shin's assistance, Princess Doman gradually dismantled Mi-shil's influence and ascended to the throne as the first queen of Silla.
