Introduction to Queen Seondeok:
"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Doman (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and navigating power struggles within the palace, she grows to become Silla's first queen - Queen Seondeok.
When the concubine Misil (played by Ko Hyun Jung) holds significant power in the palace, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya give birth to twin daughters. However, the birth of twins is seen as highly inauspicious, symbolizing the "end of the royal lineage." To avoid misfortune, King Jinpyeong reluctantly orders his younger daughter Doman to be sent away, but Misil sends assassins to eliminate her. At a critical moment, Doman is saved by Hwarang hero Moon-u, who devises a plan and entrusts her to King Jinpyeong's maid Chohwa for raising. Chohwa brings up Doman in a small inn in the Chinese desert region.
Misil, with her extraordinary beauty, gains the favor of King Jinheung and seizes control of the palace. After King Jinheung's death, she cunningly installs the young King Jinpyeong on the throne. When the king's wife gives birth to twin daughters, Misil plans to use their lives to threaten the king and directly seize royal power. However, Moon-u and Chohwa thwart her plans by rescuing Doman. Despite this setback, Misil continues her quest for the throne, plotting to install her husband as king. She sees Doman's twin sister Princess Tae-Myeong (played by Park Yi Jin) as a major obstacle.
Under Misil's rule, Princess Tae-Myeong displays remarkable wisdom and quick judgment but remains cautious about revealing her true nature. She consistently demonstrates her leadership qualities at crucial moments. Although married to Kim Yongsu (played by Park Jung Cheol) and having given birth to their son Kim Chunchu (played by Yoo Seung Ho), Princess Tae-Myeong develops feelings for Kim Yu-Shin (played by Um Tae Woong), who once saved her life. The renowned Silla general Kim Yu-Shin saves Princess Tae-Myeong from an assassination attempt orchestrated by Misil's confidants. Arranged by Princess Tae-Myeong, Kim Yu-Shin meets Princess Doman and aids her in achieving the grand vision of unifying the Three Kingdoms. Over time, Kim Yu-Shin develops affection for Princess Doman and becomes her loyal supporter. With Kim Yu-Shin's assistance, Princess Doman dismantles Misil's influence step by step and ascends to the throne as Silla's first queen.
