Introduction to Queen Seondeok:
"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Doman (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and power struggles within the palace, she grows to become the first queen of Silla - Queen Seondeok.
Under the control of Mi-seok (played by Ko Hyun Jung) in the harem, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya gave birth to twin daughters. However, for the king, giving birth to twins is considered extremely unlucky, with the omen of "the end of the royal line." Helplessly, King Jinpyeong sends his second daughter, Doman, away. But Mi-seok secretly sends assassins to eliminate her. At a critical moment, Doman is saved by the legendary Hwarang figure, Venu, who then entrusts her to King Jinpyeong's maid, Cho Hwa, for upbringing. Cho Hwa takes Doman to the desert regions of China, raising her in a small inn. Doman’s greatest enemy, Mi-seok, wields her extraordinary beauty to gain favor with King Jinheung and seize power within the palace. Ambitious, after King Jinheung's death, she supports the young King Jinpyeong's ascension to the throne. When King Jinpyeong's wife gives birth to twin daughters, Mi-seok plans to use their lives to threaten him and directly seize royal power. Unexpectedly, Venu and Cho Hwa rescue Doman, disrupting her plan. Despite this, Mi-seok does not abandon her ambition for the throne and plots to have her husband ascend instead. Thus, she sees Doman's twin sister, Princess Tae-Myeong (played by Park Yi Jin), as a thorn in her side. Under Mi-seok's rule, Princess Tae-Myeong displays exceptional wisdom and quick judgment but remains guarded. Nonetheless, she showcases her leadership qualities at crucial moments. Although Princess Tae-Myeong marries Kim Yongsu (played by Park Jung Cheol) and has a son, Kim Chun-chu (played by Yoo Seung-ho), she develops feelings for Kim Yu-shin (played by Um Tae-woong), who once saved her life. Kim Yu-shin, a renowned general of Silla, saves Princess Tae-Myeong from an assassination attempt orchestrated by Mi-seok's loyalists. Arranged by Princess Tae-Myeong, Kim Yu-shin meets Princess Doman. While aiding Princess Doman in achieving the grand dream of unifying the Three Kingdoms, Kim Yu-shin develops affection for her and becomes her steadfast supporter. With Kim Yu-shin's help, Princess Doman gradually dismantles Mi-seok's power and ascends to the throne as the first queen of Silla.
