Introduction to Queen Seondeok:
"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Dae Man (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and navigating palace power struggles, she grows to become the first queen of Silla - Queen Seondeok.
Under the control of the concubine Mi Shil (played by Ko Hyun Jung) in the palace, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya gave birth to twin daughters. However, for the king, giving birth to twins is considered highly inauspicious, symbolizing the "end of the sacred bone line." Inevitably, King Jinpyeong sent someone to take the younger daughter Dae Man away, but Mi Shil secretly sent assassins to pursue and kill her. At a critical moment, Dae Man was rescued by the legendary Hwarang leader Bun Nu and entrusted to King Jinpyeong's maid Cho Hwa for raising. Cho Hwa brought Princess Dae Man to the desert regions of China and raised her in a small inn.
Mi Shil, Princess Dae Man's greatest rival, wielded her extraordinary beauty to gain the favor of King Jinheung and seize power in the palace. Ambitious, after King Jinheung's death, she installed the young King Jinpyeong on the throne. When King Jinpyeong's wife gave birth to twin daughters, Mi Shil planned to use their lives to threaten him and directly seize royal power. However, Bun Nu and Cho Hwa saved Princess Dae Man, thwarting her plan. Despite this setback, Mi Shil did not give up her quest for the throne and plotted to install her husband as king. She viewed Dae Man's twin sister, Princess Cheon Myeong (played by Park Yi Jin), as a major obstacle.
Under Mi Shil's rule, Princess Cheon Myeong possessed exceptional wisdom and quick judgment, rarely showing her true emotions. However, she consistently demonstrated her leadership qualities at crucial moments. Although Princess Cheon Myeong married Kim Yongsu (played by Park Jung Chul) and had a son, Kim Chun Chu (played by Yoo Seung Ho), she developed feelings for Kim Yu Shin (played by Um Tae Woong), who once saved her life. Kim Yu Shin, a renowned general of Silla, accidentally saved Princess Cheon Myeong from an assassination attempt by Mi Shil's confidants. Under Princess Cheon Myeong's arrangement, Kim Yu Shin met Princess Dae Man. While helping Princess Dae Man achieve her grand vision of unifying the three kingdoms, Kim Yu Shin developed feelings for her and became one of her most loyal supporters. With Kim Yu Shin's help, Princess Dae Man gradually dismantled Mi Shil's influence and ascended to the throne as the first queen of Silla.
