Introduction to the Plot of "Love in a Fallen City":
In the 1930s, Shanghai. The Bai family, once renowned as prominent scholars during the Qing Dynasty, has fallen on hard times, squandering their fortune until they struggle with daily life. To arrange a decent wedding for Miss Bai Liusu, the sixth daughter, Grandma Bai collects money from all branches of the family. Cousins Third Master Bai Liangyue and Fourth Master Bai Liangyong's families argue over every penny, showing Liusu the coldness of human relationships early on. Bai Liusu marries into the Tang family, one of the richest families in Shanghai at the time, marrying Master Tang Yiyuan. This marriage caused a great stir.
