Queen Seondeok Plot Introduction:
"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Dae Man (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and navigating power struggles within the palace, she grows up to become the first Queen of Silla - Queen Seondeok.
In the situation where Mi Seo (played by Ko Hyun Jung) holds great power in the palace, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya gave birth to twin daughters. However, for the king, giving birth to twins was considered highly inauspicious, signifying "the end of the royal male lineage." Under these circumstances, King Jinpyeong had no choice but to send away his second daughter, Dae Man. But Mi Seo sent her people to secretly pursue and kill her. At a critical moment, Dae Man was saved by the legendary Hwarang figure, Venu, who then handed her over to be raised by Jiso, a servant of King Jinpyeong. Jiso took Dae Man to the desert regions of China, raising her in a small inn.
Mi Seo, Princess Dae Man's greatest enemy, wielded her extraordinary beauty to gain the favor of King Jinheung, thus acquiring power in the palace. Ambitious as she was, after King Jinheung's death, she installed the young King Jinpyeong on the throne. When the wife of King Jinpyeong gave birth to twin daughters, Mi Seo planned to use their lives to threaten him and directly seize the royal authority. Unexpectedly, Venu and Jiso rescued Dae Man, thwarting her plans. Despite this setback, Mi Seo did not give up her ambition for the throne and plotted to make her husband king. She viewed Dae Man's twin sister, Princess Cheonmyeong (played by Park Yi Jin), as a major obstacle.
Under Mi Seo's control, Princess Cheonmyeong, with her exceptional intelligence and quick judgment, did not easily reveal her true nature but always demonstrated her leadership abilities at crucial moments. Although Princess Cheonmyeong married Gim Yongsu (played by Park Jung Chul) and had a son, Gim Chunju (played by Yoo Seung Ho), she developed feelings for Gim Yu Sin (played by Um Tae Woong), who once saved her life. The renowned Silla general, Gim Yu Sin, possessed extraordinary martial arts skills. After accidentally saving Princess Cheonmyeong from assassination attempts orchestrated by Mi Seo's confidants, he met Princess Dae Man through her arrangements. While helping Princess Dae Man achieve the grand dream of unifying the three kingdoms, Gim Yu Sin developed affection for her, becoming a loyal supporter.
With the help of Gim Yu Sin, Princess Dae Man gradually dismantled Mi Seo's influence and ascended to the throne as the first queen of Silla.
