Introduction to the plot:
"Braving the Hard East" tells the story of a Shandong family who, from the late Qing Dynasty to before the outbreak of the September 18th Incident, was forced to leave their hometown and "brave the hard east" due to livelihood pressures. The plot follows the complex and rugged life of the protagonist Zhu Kaishan as the main thread, interspersed with the various trials and tribulations faced by Zhu Kaishan's three sons on the road to Guandong. These sons have vastly different personalities and fates. During the script planning stage, the creation was positioned as: the story of little people becoming great heroes. The national behavior of "braving the hard east" was a forced mass migration under the specific historical background of the Chinese nation. The journey on the Guandong road required going through wave after wave of hardships and tribulations... Stories of joy and sorrow arising from couples being separated.
