Introduction to the plot of "Wang Laohu Seizes a Bride":
A miscommunication about an imperial marriage proposal causes Xiuying to hastily be arranged by her older brother to marry a scholar she has never met. However, upon realizing the misinformation during the wedding ceremony, Laohu, who has always despised scholars, immediately stops the marriage! Poor scholar Zhou Wenbin proposes to Wang Xiuying, daughter of a wealthy family, but is rejected by Wang Xiuying's mother, Lady Wang. Wang Xiuying's brother, Wang Tianbao, nicknamed "Wang Laohu", uses his powerful influence to abduct beautiful women everywhere. On the Lantern Festival night, Zhou Wenbin gambles with his friend Zhu Zhishan, betting that he can dress as a woman to watch the lanterns without being recognized. As a result, Zhou Wenbin, dressed as a woman, is abducted by Wang Laohu. That night, unwilling to "get married," Laohu places him in his younger sister's room, unintentionally leading to a marriage between him and Wang Xiuying; the next day, Zhu Zhishan comes searching, leaving Lady Wang no choice but to allow her daughter to marry Zhou Wenbin.
The reckless Wang Laohu (Karl Chin) cannot withstand the constant pressure from his mother Liu Bingdi (Sylvia Wong) to get married, mistakenly abducting Zhou Wenbin (Felix Chan), dressed as a woman, back to the mansion as his wife. He rashly places him temporarily in his younger sister Wang Xiuying’s (Tracy Hu) bedroom for the night. To preserve his sister's honor, Laohu has no choice but to arrange an engagement between Wenbin and Xiuying, while imposing harsh rules to humiliate Wenbin. The intelligent Wenbin devises a plan to use the female侠客屠龙女侠武三娘 (Josephine Suen) to counterbalance Laohu, misleading her into believing that Laohu is the life-saving benefactor she has been seeking for years. He then sets up a scheme for Laohu to abduct her again, bringing her back to the mansion where they get married. After their marriage, Third Lady strives to reform this wicked tiger, leading to daily scenes of taming the shrew within the Wang mansion, almost driving the explosive-tempered Laohu mad. Having successfully escaped Laohu's clutches, Wenbin should have lived freely, but his arrogance leads to further conflicts... The characters and plot take unexpected turns, breaking away from traditional drama tropes, creating a fresh new chapter for "Wang Laohu Seizes a Bride".
