An ordinary small town—*Samsing Town*, an ordinary woman—Chi Tsz, actually has a very extraordinary adventure with gods and demons! Chi Tsz is the well-known living treasure of Samsing Town. Although her birth mother passed away shortly after she was born, her stepmother, Cao Wangyou, loved and taught her as if she were her own daughter. Moreover, under the influence of her father Ji Shen, Chi Tsz grew up to be cheerful, optimistic, and helpful, earning the love and respect of all the townspeople, thus gaining the nickname "Good Luck Sister." Chi Tsz has two good friends, Shi Gandang and Jiang Qian, who both have character flaws and physical imperfections, making them unpopular among the townsfolk. Gandang’s childhood nickname was "San Jin," due to his frailty and thinness, which often led to him being bullied, but Chi Tsz always came to his rescue. Once, Gandang prayed for protection at the Wong Tai Sin Temple, only to wake up transformed into a strong, muscular man. However, from then on, he became domineering...
On the other side, the county magistrate's daughter, Jiang Qian, with an unusually thick and large mouth and a big black mole on her lips, asked Chi Tsz to accompany her to the Smoky Cloud Cave to seek out a fairy who could grant her wish of becoming beautiful. However, what they didn't know was that lurking in the cave was a demon dispatched by the python demon master Wuji Tianzun. Jiang Qian, desperate for beauty, willingly sacrificed her years-long deep friendship with Chi Tsz. Out of jealousy for Chi Tsz's beauty, Jiang Qian began maliciously slandering her and seducing Gandang, causing him to distance himself from Chi Tsz. She also rejected her impoverished fiancé Yan Xi, who had been promised to her in marriage since childhood, and even incited Gandang to fight Yan Xi to retrieve the marriage contract. This led to Yan Xi falling into the lake. Chi Tsz, trying to save Yan Xi, was entangled by a water ghost, putting her life in grave danger. Fortunately, she was saved by Wangyou, revealing to Chi Tsz that her stepmother was actually a celestial herb incarnate.
Wangyou, having leaked her divine energy while saving Chi Tsz, was discovered by the Demon Lord. To use her tears to restore his ruined face, the Demon Lord abducted Wangyou and turned Ji Shen into a pig. Determined to save her parents, Chi Tsz trained hard in magic, during which she learned that Yan Xi's family had been cursed for three generations by a lazy root. Later, Yan Xi was possessed by the spirit of Ganjiang, who abandoned reincarnation to search for his wife Moye, separated for a hundred years. Moved by Ganjiang's deep affection, Yan Xi and Chi Tsz decided to help him find his wife. In gratitude, Ganjiang also promised to help remove Yan Xi's curse and assist Chi Tsz in saving her mother.
Meanwhile, influenced by Jiang Qian, Gandang's preference for wealth over poverty worsened. He disapproved of his sister Ganyan's romance with the poor scholar Liu Yi and drove Liu Yi out of Samsing Town with force. Ganyan fell ill with grief and couldn’t be cured. The townspeople resented and cursed Gandang’s wicked deeds, leading to the arrival of the Plague God, causing misfortune: his mother fell ill with a strange disease, his business failed, and Ganyan's illness became incurable. Only then did Gandang realize his mistakes. After much effort, Gandang finally found Liu Yi, who, bound by a promise to a dragon princess (whose husband, the River God, was philandering with a clam spirit and abusing her), had to send a message to the Dragon King first before returning with Gandang. Despite the River God and Fox Spirit's attempts to stop them, Chi Tsz and Yan Xi managed to help Liu Yi successfully deliver the letter, rescuing the dragon princess. Gandang resolved to help Chi Tsz defeat the demons and save her mother.
Together again, Chi Tsz, Yan Xi, and Gandang embarked on their journey to the Demon Lord's palace. Before reaching the palace, they were ambushed by the Demon Lord's top guardian, Garuda, who severely injured Yan Xi, scattering his soul. Just as Chi Tsz and Gandang were about to perish, a Taoist named Yu Hengzi appeared and repelled Garuda. While searching for Yan Xi's scattered soul, Chi Tsz, Gandang, and Ganjiang's sword spirit unexpectedly met Du San, who had become a water ghost. With Du San's help, they infiltrated the Smoky Cloud Cave, discovering that Yan Xi's soul was imprisoned by Garuda. Shockingly, Ganjiang recognized Garuda as his long-lost wife Moye, who had been controlled by the Demon Lord's sorcery, losing her mind. Unable to recognize each other, they eventually freed Yan Xi's soul and other trapped spirits.
Realizing Yu Hengzi was no ordinary person, Chi Tsz, Yan Xi, and Gandang knelt through the night, begging him to take them as disciples, believing he was the only one capable of opposing the Demon Lord. Yu Hengzi was deeply troubled because hatred generates uncontrollable power... Originally, a thousand years ago, Yu Hengzi and the Demon Lord were a pair of python spirit spouses who vowed to cultivate together to ascend to immortality. However, Yu Hengzi was once bewitched by a rabbit spirit, and this affair was uncovered by the female python spirit, the Demon Lord, just when she was undergoing her century-long power dissipation ritual. The shock caused half her face to be destroyed, and the couple parted ways. For a thousand years, the female python spirit sought to destroy worldly happiness to balance her trauma. Yu Hengzi deeply regretted the past, acknowledging that the Demon Lord's evil deeds were partly his fault. Thus, he passed on all his lifetime cultivation to the three, instructing them to seek the legendary "Heaven," "Earth," and "Man" treasures on a peak where three immortals once attained enlightenment. Believing that with these treasures and their combined powers, they could surely defeat the Demon Lord.
With the same determination, Chi Tsz, Yan Xi, and Gandang overcame numerous demonic obstacles and finally ascended the peak, finding the treasures, ready to head to the Demon Palace to rescue Wangyou. Upon arriving at the Demon Palace, they were immediately trapped within seven layers of demonic realms. It turned out that the Demon Lord, knowing Yu Hengzi had taken them as disciples, had already set up a trap for them. They successfully broke out of the demonic realms, destroying the Demon Lord's millennium-old soul-controlling staff that commanded the demon army, forcing him to reveal his true form. As they were about to destroy him, Yu Hengzi arrived, openly admitting his mistake to the Demon Lord and sacrificing himself by giving her his snake gallbladder. Realizing the truth, the Demon Lord forgave Yu Hengzi, and they merged into one, transforming into a two-headed snake, retreating to live in seclusion in the mountains and forests.
Finally, Chi Tsz and the others rescued Wangyou from the abyss. Having fulfilled her earthly duties, Wangyou returned to the heavens to continue her unfinished duties as a celestial herb. Chi Tsz, Yan Xi, and Gandang, having made great contributions in vanquishing the demons, were deified as the "Fu," "Lu," and "Shou" stars respectively. Laozi recorded their story to educate the world that good causes will inevitably lead to good results, naming it *The Search for Gods*!
Whenever facing difficulties and adversities, people tend to pray to gods and Buddhas, hoping for divine intervention, while their self-rescue abilities are overshadowed by various negative traits without realizing it—a pity indeed! Based on classic Chinese mythology, this drama uses advanced animation special effects and fantastical costumes to create a grand battle between immortals, humans, and demons, encouraging ordinary people to bring out the truth, kindness, and beauty in human nature.
The story takes place in an ordinary small town called "Samsing Town," depicting the different predicaments faced by three ordinary people: Chi Tsz (played by Chung Ka Kam), Shi Gandang (played by Chen Haomin), and Yan Xi (played by Chen Jinhong). All three have connections to the divine but encounter a generation of evil demons that harm the world, testing their friendship severely. Regarding the scenes of flying through the air and advanced computer special effects, the three main actors said, "Although there were slight difficulties in acting, the process was very interesting, and the mysterious suspense created by the supernatural atmosphere will surely surprise the audience!"
Cheerful and kind-hearted Chi Tsz obtained divine energy from her stepmother, Cao Wangyou (played by Wai Ying Hung), who was actually a celestial herb incarnate, transforming her into a semi-immortal body. However, Wangyou inadvertently revealed her divine energy while saving Chi Tsz. Knowing that Wangyou's herb tears could restore her former beauty, the thousand-year-old python demon Wuji Tianzun (played by Tam Siu Waan) abducted her. Since the lesser gods were forbidden by Laozi to interfere, Chi Tsz had to train hard in divine techniques to save her mother.
Chi Tsz's friend Shi was bullied by children when he was young and constantly prayed for the protection of Wong Tai Sin. Later, moved by his plight, Wong Tai Sin granted him immense strength. Gradually, Shi became a tyrannical bully, taking revenge on the villagers, even breaking up his younger sister's romance. Losing his original nature, Shi conflicted with Chi Tsz, but fortunately, during Shi's most disheartened moment, Chi Tsz stayed by his side, and in gratitude, Shi promised to help her destroy the demons and save her mother.
