"The Fan Mansion" Plot Introduction:

This series tells the story of two county magistrates during the late Qing Dynasty who, seeing the chaotic state of affairs, retired from their posts in Shanxi and returned to Beijing. Various characters within their families participate in social life in different roles: there are those like Masters Fan and Shi who, despite their outdated thinking, steadfastly uphold national integrity; Guanghan, adopted as a young master into the Fan family, who spends his days idling away in brothels, smoking opium, and ultimately becomes a sacrificial product of the feudal family; and Guangwen, who believes in the Three Principles of the People.
