Li Xiaoyao, a waiter in a small fishing village. As his name implies, he is free and unrestrained, and the whole world is his playground.

By a twist of fate, he meets Zhao Ling'er, the princess of Nanzhao, who is hiding on a secluded island to evade pursuers. Because of their brief encounter, they become bound together forever.

Xiaoyao escorts Ling'er back to the Miao territory to find her mother. Along the way, they accidentally run into Lin Yue Ru, a spoilt and willful young lady.

From then on, the fates of these three individuals are tightly intertwined, never to part again.
