Plot Introduction:
In the late Spring and Autumn Period, the states of Wu and Yue had developed a deep enmity due to war. King Fuchai of Wu, seeking revenge for his father, diligently trained his troops with the assistance of Wu Zixu. Meanwhile, Goujian, the king of Yue, forged the "King's Sword" in an attempt to swiftly annihilate Wu. However, Fuchai had already attacked the "Sword Hut," while Wu Zixu had led his army across the great river. Goujian was utterly defeated. With Wu's forces at Yue's doorstep and the country on the brink of collapse, Fan Li proposed the idea of surrendering to Wu. To preserve a sliver of hope for Yue's revival, Goujian accepted Fan Li's advice and surrendered, becoming a slave to Wu. From then on, Goujian tended to Fuchai's horses and pulled carts, enduring countless humiliations for the sake of Yue's resurgence. While biding his time in servitude, he silently waited for the opportunity to strike back. Wu Zixu believed that failing to eliminate Goujian would inevitably lead to future troubles, but Fuchai dismissed this concern, viewing Goujian merely as a slave from a fallen nation.
