This series excerpts the history between Year 72 BC, the second year of Benshi Period in Western Han Dynasty and the late period of Emperor Xuan Di, to Year 7 BC, the second year of Suihe and the enthronement of Emperor Ai Di. It uses the growth history of five family children (low-level palace maids in Han Palace) as the starting point, focusing on the personality growth process and power-induced competition of Wang Zhengjun and Fu Yao at different stages. It adopts a unique female perspective and realistic historical writing techniques. Under the strict respect for history, it boldly excavates and imagines, portraying a group of empresses and empress dowagers who have dreams and aspirations in the social form of feudal autocracy (patriarchy). It writes a moving elegy for Chinese women sacrificed in the feudal system.
