"The Lonely Bet" has been made into a TV series twice and a movie once, making it a famous work that has been brought to the screen multiple times. The original was set in the Showa 30s, but this adaptation will have a modern setting. Talking about why Ito was chosen, producer Seichirou Takashima said: "Ito has mostly played passionate roles so far, but this time he will break convention and play an ambitious villainous role. Because he is trying a new style, Ito confidently said: 'Whether the audience has read the original or not, everyone in front of and behind the camera will work together to present the best possible production.' Hasegawa also enthusiastically expressed her joy at receiving such a good role at such a time. Momoko has an animal-like sharp sense, making it impossible to guess whether her actions are due to calculation or instinct, making her a dangerous and charming woman. Other co-stars include Yoo Aoi (30 years old), Masato Sengoku (33 years old), Noriko Aoyama (39 years old), and Sachiko Takagi (34 years old).
