In Yinchuan, Qian Xiaoyang stabs an Audi car while practicing martial arts and thus meets Beijing boy Fang Yu who came to pick up the car. Xiaoyang has always longed for Beijing but was repeatedly blocked by her mother Yang Shan. Encouraged by Fang Yu, she decides to go to Beijing without telling her family. She tells her plan to her cousin Zhao Qingchu who is in Beijing. Qingchu, who has just graduated from postgraduate studies, wants to stay in Beijing to be a lawyer, but her mother Yang Yi wants her to work in Shanghai. The two are at odds.

Xiaoyang rides with Fang Yu to Beijing and spends the night at a motel. Fang Yu tries to take advantage of Xiaoyang but fails, instead being tied up by Xiaoyang who knows martial arts. Ashamed and angry, the two argue all the way to Beijing. Xiaoyang goes to her grandmother Lang Xinping's house and starts looking for a job the next day. Qingchu receives a pleasant surprise - the law firm's acceptance notice. In the evening, at a class reunion, Qingchu meets again her college senior Gao Qi who once had a crush on her. Gao Qi sends Qingchu home and wants to express his feelings, but is interrupted by Xiaoyang.
