According to the American Life Science Network, scientists drilled a mineral sample along the coast of Newfoundland. Unexpectedly, they discovered unicellular microorganisms on the sample. These microorganisms live at a high temperature about 1 mile (1626 meters) below the seabed. This discovery has set a record for the discovery of life at the deepest place under the seabed, which is approximately twice as deep as the previous record.
