After running for about 40 years and delivering millions of passengers, 44 decommissioned subway cars from New York, the biggest city in the US, have been turned into an artificial reef in the sea near New York, becoming a habitat for marine life. The American media estimated on June 17th that this will generate approximately 1 billion USD annually for the local fishery industry.
