On May 12, the Croatian police in the capital Zagreb discovered a female "mummy" sitting on a bed at the top of an apartment building. Upon investigation, the deceased was identified as Hedviga Golik, born in 1924. According to neighbors, Hedviga was introverted and was last seen in 1966, after which she seemed to have vanished without a trace. Due to her owing a large amount of public facility fees that should have been shared, the neighbors had reported her case multiple times to the police and housing management departments, but no one had paid attention for many years. It wasn't until recently when three neighbors broke into the house while investigating its ownership that they discovered Hedviga's body, by which time she had mysteriously "disappeared" for 42 years!
