The so-called golden 72 hours is actually not a profound theory, nor does it have much credibility. There has been a popular saying in China that "men can survive three days of starvation and women seven". "Men can survive three days of starvation" refers to fat-less men who could usually endure hunger for three days, while women with more fat could hold out for seven days. Although this saying sounds reasonable, it is obviously not scientific enough. Men and women vary in weight and strength, and no one would deliberately put it to the test; if they are unfortunately caught in various disaster conditions and manage to survive for several days, it has much to do with different material conditions surrounding the disaster.
